Hello and thanks for visiting running4beginners.co.uk.
The website begun in 2006 as a project by myself, I had been running seriously for a couple of years and as a result of my enthusiasm I had begun to acquire a lot of information about running and other related subjects such as physiology. I decided I wanted to consolidate this knowledge, and after a short time of coming up with ideas, the website was born.
Although the website is none commercial, we have had companies offer to buy the website and over 500, 000 hits. Clearly this is never going to break records but I like to think that at least a few of our visitors have benefited from the website’s content, and I hope you can too, whether it be an interesting read or an informative one.
I designed and wrote the website during a period of unemployment and a short time after it’s completion, I joined the British Police Service and the Territorial Army as an Airborne Engineer. Although my sporting habits had died down somewhat from my college days, joining an airborne unit led me to the challenge of ‘P Company’, which is a series of tests a solider (regular and territorial) must pass before they can go on to earn their wings and earn ‘airborne’ status.
But my first love of all was for mountaineering. I started climbing in 2001 on a trip to the French Alps with my family. The trips then became an annual event, with some British climbing in between. In 2003 I climbed Mont Blanc (4808m) and then in 2004 I summited the volcanic peak; Cotopaxi (5897m).
So, the website is here for you to enjoy and browse around. It contains information on running, climbing and the armed forces, along with personal experiences and writings of my own about the subjects.
Please remember that I am not a professional in climbing or running, and I do not have qualifications in any of them either, the website is a personal project that I believe is better off shared with you.
Thanks for reading.
